Our Selection Process
Now that you have applied for a position with Council, the selection process will commence as follows:
Council adopts a merit based selection process. The interview panel will assess applications based on qualifications and recent and relevant experience, skills and knowledge.
You will receive an email notification confirming your application has been received. Occasionally our emails can go into the spam filter, please check this if your notification is not in your inbox. If you are successful in gaining an interview you will be notified by telephone.
An interview panel of no less than two (2) persons will review applications and select who will attend the interview. The selection of candidate for interview will be based on the information presented in your online application.
If you are selected for an interview, you will be contacted within approximately four (4) weeks of the closing date. If you are a shortlisted candidate you will be contacted by telephone and given the date, time, location of your interview with us. You will also be notified of any skills testing that will form part of the interview process.
At the conclusion of the interview, you will be invited to ask questions about the position and demonstrate your interest in, and understanding of the positions and its duties. TIP Use this time as an opportunity to support your claim for the position.
What am I required to bring?
Make sure you bring with you evidence of relevant qualifications, certificates, licences or cards as outlined in the ‘Requirements of the Position’ on the Position Description.
A member of the interview panel will contact the referees that you have provided with your application. When you complete the interview, it is recommended that you contact your referees and let them know that they may be contacted shortly.
During the interview you will be advised if you will be required to undergo any pre-employment assessments as part of the selection process. There may include a medical, psych assessment, national police clearance or working with children ochre card clearance.
Those candidates that are not offered and interview will be advised by email that they were unsuccessful on this occasion.
Those candidates that were offered an interview will be contacted by one of the interview panel if they were not the preferred candidate.
