We are seeking an experienced professional to join our Finance Team. The objective of this role is to provide professional accounting services focussing on external reporting, taxation, fixed assets, payroll, accounts payable and the Annual Report. Reporting to the Executive Manager, Finance you will lead the team in providing high level advice and support to City of Darwin management and staff.
This role calls for strong leadership skills and the ability to collaborate with a wide range of internal stakeholders in a local government environment.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Responsibility for ensuring preparation of Council's Annual Financial Statements
- Co-ordinate the process for the Audit of the Annual Financial Statements
- Responsibility for the coordination and management of Councils payables systems including Accounts Payable, Payroll, Credit Card Costings and Aldermen payments etc
- Ability to plan and coordinate activities, prioritise, monitor and evaluate workflows and continually assess and improve effectiveness of financial processes and systems in consultation with the Executive Manager Finance
- Responsibility for the accurate recording and maintenance of Council's Asset Register
You should be a CPA or CAANZ qualified with a minimum of 5 years' experience in medium to large organisation.
This is a hands-on role in a busy environment that will require you to think strategically and analytically whilst multitasking. We seek an individual with exceptional attention to detail, outstanding communication skills and the ability to prioritise and work in an independent manner as well as within a team.
