About the Opportunity
We have two full-time permanent employment opportunities for Cleaners in our Cleaning Services team. As part of the team, you will actively participate in the delivery of a safe, liveable and healthy city by undertaking a range of cleaning and maintenance duties across the Darwin municipality.
You will be required to undertake a range of general cleaning and maintenance duties by operating and maintaining a range of plant and equipment. The duties would include, but not limited to, water pressure cleaning, public toilet and public BBQ cleaning, litter/ rubbish removal and cleaning of hard surfaces. You will be responsible for ensuring your work is completed to standard, in an efficient and safe manner.
Based at our Operations facility in Winnellie, this role will require you to participate in early shifts throughout the weekdays as well as weekend programs as required. Your roster may have varied start times from 3.30am to 7.30am. You must enjoy working as part of a team and be comfortable and capable of working full days in the outdoor environment that we have here in the NT.
As a Cleaner, it is expected that you are flexible, reliable, accountable and able to work well with fellow team members.
To be considered for the role you must:
- Hold and maintain a Medium Rigid (MR) Licence
- Hold a General Construction Industry - White Card
- Hold or be willing to attain Work Zone Traffic Management 2 & 3
- Hold or be willing to attain Units of Competency or equivalent AusChem course for:
- AHCCHM3007 - Prepare and apply chemicals to control pests, weeds and diseases
- AHCCHM304 - Transport and store chemicals
It is advantageous to have a Certificate in Cleaning Services or minimum of 2 (two) years of relevant experience.

The positions have a base salary of $57,192 per annum, negotiable based on experience, plus superannuation. City of Darwin also provides generous leave entitlements such as six weeks annual leave, 15 days personal leave and a paid RDO each month.
